Simple Hammock purchase
Hello,
I reckon this would be the place to ask a hammock question.
I am looking for a simple, one man hammock. It is like the olive drab super hammock found on many military surplus sites. However, the one my son has is white and he bought it at a Walmart in Nevada. We have nothing like that in Adrian and I've been unable to locate one of that color online. Can any of you folks point me in a good direction?
Thanks!
Michael

My question would be, why do you want a net hammock? What are you going to use it for? There are better hammocks out there for about the same price and weigh less.
super hammock
I recommend the travel hammock.

Micheal J,
Can you give a link to the WalMart hammock you are talking about. If you are looking at something inexpensive to start out with look at Byer Hammocks. I own the Amazona and a lot of members here have the Miskito Traveller.
Eagles Nest has some nice hammocks and also check out Speer Hammock if you want a hammock geared more toward camping.

That's a legitimate question, lvleph. I guess I would say you can take the man out of Vietnam, but it's hard to get the Vietnam out of the man.
I do appreciate your link to the Travel Hammocks.
As always on these types of forums, the folks are very helpful. Thanks!

I figured that was your reasoning for the net hammock. The fabric hammocks are more comfortable (IMO) and should provide a bit more bug protection and some more warmth in the wind.

I used one of those for years for touring. My down bag would ooz thru the holes in the mesh keeping it from being compressed accept at the strings. It actially worked quite well for me. I never went to super low temps in it, but it saved my rear a lot of times when it was too wet to tent.
However, it was a pain to get in it.
