Gave up the backpacking hobby a few years back. Still day hiked, sometimes 16 hours continual strenuous walking, climbing but could not take laying on hard ground any more like I used to.
At home we switched to a waterbed out of necessity.
Maybe hammocks will help get me back on the longer trails.
Leaning towards Bear Mtn. Bridge after a little investigation, but we'll have to see what I end up with...

Lots of types of hammocks out there, all with different pros and cons. All are more comfortable IMO than sleeping on the ground. The main trick is staying warm--not difficult, just different.
Hope you are able to backpack again. :)
It's hard to know which type works best for you until you actually sleep on one. Good news is it's pretty easy to sell used hammocks here on the forum so if the BMBH isn't what you thought you can recoup some of the cost and apply it to a different style hammock.
+1 on what bonsaihiker said about staying warm. Remember to budget for under quilts.
