My idea is a length of Amsteel with an Whoopie Sling type adjustable loop at each end. Attaches to the tree with a small length of webbing and a toggle on each end. Simple enough. The end. :D

Anything is possible... I like your idea.....
I was thinking of having the extra line under the tarp for use... whether you pull it taught or leave it semi loose.
The issue with a full RL and using it to hang things is what youre hanging will be smack against the tarp. No air flow means no drying if your items are wet. With the slack under the tarp, you can adjust the sag so you get air flow.
See above.... And dont shut up. So far I like your idea the best.
I have never used a full-length RL, and I don't really know its advantages. If the objective is to have a clothes line under the tarp, why not install a separate clothes line that has the correct sag, or even an adjustable one? Then, use two separate lines for the ridgeline with a fixed eye and a toggle, and a Prusik at the tarp tie-out (like the system we discussed via pm)?
