Continuous Ridgeline in a Tadpole Tarp: Yea or Nay?

Received my WL Tadpole recently and am super excited! After a bit of a fuss seam sealing and covering it with talc baby powder... which I'm pretty sure is going to make it smell like fresh babies to all the hungry bears out there... :scared:

I got to thinking: which ridgeline is better for tarps with a seam down the middle? The Tadpole's got that great lapped seam in the center, which keeps it pretty taut on its own. But a continuous ridgeline would be conducive for Prussik knots and centering the tarp with minimal effort.

So Tadpole (or similar) users, what's worked best for you? Any tips and tricks are much appreciated!

I've never had trouble with running a CRL under any tarp, but if you're worried about it you could run it over the top as well. Just loose that great place to hang wet/stinking clothing when its raining.

i use a CRL on my tadpole.
tadpole over CRL, attached by soft shackles prussic knotted to the CRL and Dutch Tarp Flyz on both ends.

I use a CRL over the top of my WL OMW. but from what ive read you don't have to seam seal the ridgeline on the WL tarps. and ive sat through a couple extreme rain storms and mine never leaked, even the pullouts didnt leak.

I have found that my supefly hangs better with the CRL above the tarp. When the CRL was under the tarp, it flattened out the CatCut RL of the tarp and the tarp did not pitch as tight. Once I put he CRL above the tarp...the tarp is nice and tight! Just my 2 cents.

I should try that Raiffnuke. I've been hanging my SF over the line which seems to work fine, but I'm always open to testing new methods.

I was hesitant at first. I much prefer the look to a CRL under the tarp...besides, that is how I always did it making shelters out of rectangular tarps...but I found that it did indeed work better with the CatCut RL. Like I said...YMMV. :D

I guess I'm in the minority, but I do not use a CRL on my Tadpole. I can get a nice taught pitch without it. I've got Zingit on both ends with Tarpflyz.

I do see the benefit to a CRL in centering the tarp easier. It can sometimes be annoying to walk back and forth to each side to get it right, but that hasn't driven me to change my setup yet.

Hmm, there's plenty of food for thought here! Good to know that even if my seam sealing job wasn't the finest the tarp should be relatively storm-proof on its own. Looks like I may have to try it several ways to see which is the fastest and sturdiest setup.
