now I know I am a southerner to the bone just watching all that snow had me pulling up my jacket, and wishing for a hood to put on...
KM (who thinks you all had a great time, due to great gear and great preparations!)
really cool video, thanks. beautiful country and superior attire. Mast General Store is the real deal, i could spend all day there.
thanks again for sharing that great experience.
Why, thank you very much! I was pleased that it worked well, too!
I didn't hold anyone back... I can whup any man that can't whup me!
That said, we did have to talk Wisenber out of hiking Over Roan Mountain to get to Over Mountain Shelter... that would have been tough. There must have been 50 knots of wind up there, and it would have been a lot colder 1000 feet higher up!
If Wisenber hadn't been in the line of fire, on the other side of that little field, I would have been tempted to harvest one myself! I told Wisenber that, and he wondered how we would keep it from the bears. Looking back on it, I imagine the bears were all down in the valley, scheming on how to snitch a deer off a backhoe!
Great pics, Walter! Thanks!
Wait until you see the video from Minnesota!
You are entyrely welcome! Perhaps we should plan another HFer dinner in Valley Cruces during the Jan sales!Quote:

MacE,,, looks like a fun trip. I think ya'll got spoiled in the Barn
Maybe you said, but what kind of camera did you use? And what kind of video editing software?
Really enjoyed the video. My wife and I stayed at Overmountain Shelter on a long weekend hike about three years ago. What an amazing setting for a shelter and what an amazing old barn for an AT shelter.
Thanks for sharing your hike! And don't you love Mast General Store (though I've only been to the ones in Knoxville and Greenville)?

Good to hear from you again, HS! Have you been good?
Makes you wish it had a fireplace!
Olympus Tough 6000 camera...
VirtualDub for appending, cutting, pasting and flipping the AVI file...
Avidemux2 for converting to an FLV file for YouTube.
I had no idea that was our destination... I was expecting something less useful. We could have hung from the rafters, if we had brought an auger!
It's a classic! I wouldn't have stopped if Wisenber hadn't told me about it!

:lol::lol: my friends shop stove...
Here's a picture of my shop, taken just a moment ago...
Scuppers wouldn't like Over Mountain Shelter without a stove!
