Another characteristic that I noticed after putting away this masterpiece, is that it takes up a lot less space folded than stuffed. It came folded and the stuff sack had copious amount of extra room. When stuffed, I could barely get it all in there.
I usually use snakeskins, but I haven't had time to experiment with them on this tarp.
Woooooooowwwwwwwww
:D Nice tarp
Mad777 you will just have to experiment and see what way you want to store your cuben tarp. If you put it in snake skins, you will find it will take up alot of room as it becomes alittle bulky. If you decide to take your time taking it down and folding it, I end up laying it on the ground cloth to get all the tie downs in the folds nice and neat, then in folding it you have to get the air out of it. If you just stuff it all beginning with one end into the stuff sack it came in with all the tie downs and everything attached, its bulky again and almost doesn't fit. If you use a bishop sack, your cramming it in beginning with what ever end you choose first and then cramming it all end including the tie downs and RL and it can be a mess getting it all hung again. There is no simple answer as to taking it down quickly and putting back up you decide not to use snake skins. And when you do hang it, all the wrinkles and creases will come out with you streatching it tightly after its been hung a hour or so. I still, after a year of hanging cuben tarps, haven't made up my mind as to the best way I prefer and keep changing the way I pack it. Good luck and enjoy your cuben goodness. :)
Man that's one pretty looking tarp MAD777. I have me a cuben palace on order and cant wait till it arrives. Mine is not camo but your sure does blend nicely.
I use a single tube of mesh that covers about 2/3 of the tarp. I roll it up then fold it similar to snakeskins. The key is that the tube needs to be big enough to allow the tarp to flatten out. This produces a quick compact package for me. One of my cuben tarps is from 2007 and is still going strong packing this way.
BTW that camo cuben is going to be a big hit!
Great looking rain fly from a great builder, what more could one want? Congratulations on getting your hands on what must have been the desire of your heart. Look forward to seeing it next Jan.
