My mom loves to get involved in my projects. Together we've sewn hammocks, tarps modified backpacks etc. She has taken a real interest in my outings. In one room of her house she has topo maps to keep track of where I have hiked in the area. I've driven her down some back woods forest roads that she has been able to recall as a young girl. My grandparents would drive them back in the late 30's and mom would ride in the rumble seat.
Here's an old pic of my helper. He's gained a few pounds since then (rescue). He still doesn't know what to think when I hang the hammock in the backyard, but he knows he has to slow down when he runs under me in it...

This is my helper...Ms. Behavin' (JRT) is a hater though. No cats allowed and even other dogs are not safe. She loves people and that's about it. Don't let the sweet face fool ya.;)
Samantha's always near...After dark when we're sleeping outside if she's not right under me so she can touch me or nuzzling my hand, she'll lay at the edge of the tarp watching out for me. Good helper!

Hobbit,That's cool! My Mom was like that too. She always had to get out a map and see all about where I was going and insisted on pics of my trips. If she were still alive now since I've been hammocking I just know she would be sewing DIY projects with me. I come from a 4 generation family of seamstresses.
Here's a funny story you might enjoy, my neighbors have a little yip yip dog-----hes about the size of a small cat, but is really agressive and barks at just about any thing, regardless of size. Anyway, I was hanging in my hammock last winter in the backyard, when this annoying dog shows up, strutting across the yard like he owns the place-------I was really still and quiet, and waited until he was a couple of feet away, sat up in my hammock and tried to pet it---------I think I came pretty close to giving him a heart attack!-----he had no idea what a hammock was, or who I was etc etc-----it was really funny to watch! ---he ran away with his tail between his legs! (I know thats off topic, but the picture of the dog next to the hammock reminded me of the incident!)
That's Funny!
