This sounds fun but, like others taking that much time at thanksgiving could be a little tuff. My oldest son will be home from college and will want to fish however I will see what I can do.

scratchin good to here you're thinking about it...and you're close to the area.
I may go broke gearing up for this trip......:) but you can't take it with you. Ragnall and I are doing some warm up trips on Percy Priest in Oct and Nov so if anyone else needs some water time to prepare for the trip just send me a PM and we will let you know when we are going out.
Thanks, hangnout! I'm doing a warm up trip too the second weekend in October on Watauga Lake here in TN. And of course anyone is welcome. :)
Tell us what you've been buying to get ready? I'm looking to buy a new spray skirt from Chill Cheaters and a few other things while I'm at it.
Oh that's just the beginning! You'll want a paddling top, pants, booties, skull cap, pogies etc.... There is a gear sale at the NOC near Bryson City, NC this weekend. Used & new gear and is the biggest sale event for paddlers of the year...I'm going, I'll have Birthday money to spend!:D
I am a kayaker who has discovered hammocks. This trip sounds to good to pass up. Regarding the gear discussion, I looked up the average water temperature for late Nov-Dec at Kentucky lake and it is 50-55 degrees. This will probably be wet suit or maybe even dry suit conditions depending on the air temps. It should be a good opportunity to test out cool weather hammocking gear. Only 65 days until launch!
