Hi from Virginia!
I got into Hammock camping last year when my buddy and I did 45 miles on the AT over 2 days. Hammocks were a great way to reduce the weight. I have a Hennessy Asym Ultralight, and it worked out great.
I do most of my camping in West Virginia. Dolly Sods is my favorite place (my license plate is 39N79.4W). I've done 10 trips there, 5 in the winter. 2 of the trips were 3-4ft of snow on snowshoes. (The winter trips have so far been in tents).
Now I'm trying to push the temperature limits of the hammock. I just finished making a Ray-Way backpacking quilt, and I am going to try and create my own underquilt. I've been finding this site extremely valuable as I research. I'm don't think I'll be able to hammock camp in below zero weather, but I'd like to push it down to 30.
Thanks, and hope to see you out there!
