cuben tarp wear
i have no experince with cuben.but like most others, would love to try it. i have one missgivings about the abrasion resistance of the mat'l. most of my tarp rigging has been with the ridge line running under the tarp, and i'm concerned about how well cuben resists this wear. anyone care to weigh in?

Its pretty dang tuff stuff. I would have no worries about doing what you're suggusting with mine. I've been pretty rough with mine and all it seems to do is get softer. The more you rough handle it, the softer it gets and the easier it is to deal with.
I mainly worry about PUNCTURING it. Although mine seems to be pretty puncture resistant too. Mine is from Hyperlite Mountain Gear.

puncture it might, tho not real easily. but a 1 in slab of duct tape and all is well, gnome. My tarp is fro the very lightest stuff C .35? and I have hod no trouble. It just looks so flimsy tat I can't believe it is really that tough!!! gnome

I tie out the ends with my cuben tarp to take the "friction" from using a CRL out of the picture.
I have seen a very well used cuben tarp, probably one of the first ones made, that had shown a bit of wear from the CRL. The owner simply put tape over the fraying areas and carried on. Cuben is fairly easy to patch.

well i just ordered two cuben fiber tarps and i hope that they last.

I have had a diy cuben tarp since late 2007 with no problems
