I've seen people hang there a year or so ago.
enjoy your hang :-)
Good place to hang. Have a good time.
I've never hung there, but we used to go regularly in campers when I was a kid. From what I remember, the mosquitoes were the size of a turkey vulture, and the raccoons were larger than a horse.
I remember not being a big fan of it back then, honestly. I remember the rangers being really picky and pushy about regulations, which sites allowed dogs, noise, how you stored your food, etc etc etc. Granted, that was around two decades ago, but I distinctly remember Elk Neck being one of my least favorite camping destinations as a kid.
I do recall them being very active as far as planning activities for kids - one of the things that pops into my mind immediately was turtle races, where I went and found a red-eared slider and all the other kids had found box turtles. I kicked butt. :D
Had a great time. the park was up to date on hammocks. any where around my site #158 (which had about 9 spots to hang). the site next to me saw my hammocks and got their rope hammock out and set it up. ranger stopped and complained about ROPES on trees and brought them over and asked to see mine. he let them but towels under ropes:)
Site was 50 yards from cliffs of bay and other trails. they were more friendly then Ricketts Glen when it comes to pets. can walk pet anywhere, but not in buildings or beach. baggy disposal was everywhere :)

Great day and all are pooped:D
Got to give Elk Neck
:thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1: for hammocks and pets.
Glad to see you had better results there than I did. Looks like things have changed for the better in the last twenty years or so :D
How were the 'skeeters? Did they try to carry that dog away?
Maybe it's the season - we usually went during water skiing season, when temps were pretty crazy warm. Or maybe they've started treating for them or something. Or maybe they looked bigger because I was small :lol:
