I have a new bugnet. It's the simple bugsock type with the drawstring and cordlock at the head end. How do you all close it up completely? I find it very hard to reach up and close it completely because my Traveler is quite a bit longer than me. I have to keep hitching myself up to the headend and even then it's hard to reach up behind my head and tighten it up past the gathered end of the Traveler. Do you worry about closing it up completely?
I just pull it shut. I've not had a problem, but my hammock is only about 100" long with the finished gathered ends.

Yep, its not neccessary to completely cork it tight. Once it snug (as far as I can reach) then I fluff the extra gathered net into the hollow spot between the edges of the hammock. So far its worked okay.
Maybe a small flap of netting could be attached to the head of the sock that fills that void?
I was even thinking some elastic shockcord would be nice. With a cordlock, snug it up and it'll still give some as you move around in the hammock?

Hurray! One for our side! They are nasty! :) Nice to know I'm not the only one not able to get these kinds of nets completely shut. I was also thinking of some kind of elastic cord to close up the gap as long as I got it close to the end. But not a full circle of elastic. Just something to close up the last little bit of gap. But if the permethrin does the trick, I may not even bother with that.Quote:
