How do I post that to the topic, can a mod do that for me?

It's my experience that the Mod reviews these transactions and marks them sold. I've put an "It's been sold" in the message body and title bar. Usually takes a day or two for it to be Mod-ified to Sold:

It wont let me edit the first post or the topic. I think if the post is over a certain "age" it locks it.

Yes, after a certain point you can no longer edit the original post

This is true. I think at 72 hours or so you cannot edit the original post. Simply notify a moderator if it has been a few days and you need a "SOLD" thread close. Generally we get to those fairly quickly.
