I just ordered some fabric and down from Ed this weekend, while he was out of town. During the day on Monday, I got an email from the post office notifying me of a shipment.
Normally, when I get these and click on the tracking number, I will get a message that reads, "The post office has been notified of a shipment, but has not received it yet." I will get this same message for two days! Not Ed's shipment! The message read, "Shipment has left the post office for final destination."
This is the kind of service that cannot be beat, and keeps people loyal as a bear to a jar of honey!
exciting stuff...looking forward to seeing what new and improved products come out of this merger :) best of luck to all those involved
This is all very exciting! Some of my favorite friends are now partners!
I just happen to be in my Speer phase since last October. Got a Speer IIIA, Frog Sac, PeaPod, Top Blanket and a rare white Speer Winter Tarp prototype that Hooch gave me (Thanks again, Hooch!)... SnugFit is on the way. Here's a picture of my Speer rig hangin' on my sister's deck in Hendersonville last October at the end of the PeaPod's 11 night maiden voyage.
Don't tell anybody the IX guy owns so much down! Thing1 always uses my down, so I have to find something else...
Hey Ed, I noticed you are not listed on the vendor list this year. Are you coming to Trail Days?
Eddie
Eddie, we won't be setting up a Speer Hammocks booth this year at Trail Days--just too much going on. However, Tree2Tree Trail Gear will have a booth & they will be showing & selling the Speer product line. Karen & I will probably do a day visit on Saturday & will stop by to say hi.
Ewker, you know Darby. You and he and I took the hike through Hot Springs my first hangout where we climbed the steps up to the Forest Service office parking lot. John taught Neo's kid to fly fish. Good guys, both of them.
In regards to business: The two happiest days of my life were when I started my business, and when I sold it. But it sounds to me, that this Partnership is going to be a good thing: Allow Ed to do what he does best: innovate while others run the day-to-day stuff...
My first foray into hammocking was recent (about a year), and thanks to Ed's book, 1.9 ripstop and straps from his site, successful.
Long live the legend "Not To Worry," The man who did good things for those of us who hang, and here's to many more! Cheers, Ed!
And my best one too.
Ed, Good luck on your retirement. Sounds like you are going to have some extra time on your hands. Best wishes for you and your wife. I love your gear and respect what you did to come up with the designs you made for us. Thanks for everything.
