First post here, be nice...
Hi folks. Those tree hangers at Whiteblaze have got me all kinds of curious, so I ended up here. I'm 46, and have been a backpacker for a few years, a car camper most of my life. I've got to admit, I REALLY want to give this a try. I don't know any hammockers in my area (Southern Oregon). So I don't think I can try before I buy. The closest I've came before is my brother's backyard hammock. But that thing was lights out! I had no idea what was out there for backpacking until the last couple of weeks. But is it really that much better than crawling thru the mud into my tent? :D As far as the gear I already own, how much of this is usable? A couple of wally world blue pads, a Big Agnes insulated air core, Montbell UL SS #2, no tarp. My girlfriend has mad sewing skills, so a DIY underquilt would be easy. I'd planned on buying a Skeeter Beeter, but I think I'll wait a few months and get a good one from the start. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'll be asking alot of questions, and doing even more lurking.
