Is the walmart pad working for you? Just because it is cheap doesn't make it bad.
I'd like to see what comes of this. Last time I was at Wally World I saw two different pads. One looked smoother and was a little more flexible than the other ( slightly cheaper) blue pad.
Could we get pics of the blue pads people are using too?
I have a few different sizes - I.e., 1/8th inch that I can add onto the 1/4th. I also got this one a little wider. I'm guessing 1/4th CCF's are comparable to each other.
Instead of buying another pad, save your money for an UQ. Use your Wally pad until you get the UQ. The UQ will make you much more cozy and toasty warm, and in extreme cold can be used with the Wally pad. Just my $.02. :)
Based on my experience I don't believe there are significant differences in these tye of CCF pads .... save your $$ for an underquilt. you could even make a DIY IX UQ from instruction on this site for around $40 which will get you to 30* without problems and even lower maybe in combinationn with your pad.
I'd wondered about spending money for the gray Gossamer pad since Shug uses one, but I'm happy with my blue Wally World pad with my Speer Segmental Pad Extender (SPE) for now. It gets me into the upper 30s and if if gets colder I can drop to the ground.
But definitely saving for an UQ.
I have a blue one and a green one (Alps?) from Cabelas. The blue is slightly more flexible and thinner. Cheap enough to have both, but not significantly different.
