My DIY Bushbuddy Stove
I just couldn't justify blowing $80 for a tiny little stove. It seems like more of a novelty. I hardly camp where I cannot have a campfire so I don't have a lot of need for something like this. But, it's nice to have gear. Call me a gear *****, I care not. My Bushbuddy clone is made from a free paint can with a progresso soup can for the inner liner and some 1/2x1/2 mesh. Total cost = free. I can build a ton of these for $80. Besides, using something you made yourself is more satisfying than just going out and dropping cash on over priced gear.

I got instruction from a few different sources on Youtube. Just search "DIY Bushbuddy".

That looks awesome. Let us know how it holds up after extended use. Thanks for the pictures!

I changed the pot stand. I used a can from Swansons chicken. It's was the taller(something percent more free) can. I popped a few holes around it like the ones in the stove and cut an access hole to add fuel. It's more like the ones on YT and It should last a lot longer. It still stacks into it's self. The only thing I can see replacing on occasion is the inner can as that thing glows bright red every time it's lit. There is no discoloration on the outer can after 9 full burns boiling 3 cups of water on each burn. (the pot in my demo pics only does 2 cups) It should last a long time for me because I still prefer my Jetboil. No soot, no mess, and no trying to get dry wood here in the rainy Pacific Northwest.
