Hey hey from Iowa!
Hey everyone! I'm am somewhat new to hammocking. I got my first taste at the HF-NH last October with my pal SnowWhite. Some of you may remember me as Ness. I have finally decided that it is officially the best way to backpack, camp, etc. I haven't bought my own hammock yet, but I really like the Warbonnet Blackbird. The Clark seems to be more roomier. I haven't slept in a Hennessy, but also sounds like a great option. I'm very indecisive and am now sad that I have to sleep on the ground on my next backpacking excursion. I would appreciate any suggestions!

Welcome moonwillow, we knew you'd come around eventually...most do.
You've indeed got some decisions to make, but it's pretty tough to make a bad one these days, plenty of good equipment out there.

Hey moonwillow, welcome to HF! Of course you're going to love your hammock. And I doubt you'll stop at just one:D

Welcome, Woonmillow! :D
I missed out on meeting you at the last NH as I couldn't make it.
Lots of choices you have. I have an HH and a BB and have checked out a Clark. My $.02 is that the BB is the roomiest and I'm loving my Backwoods Day Dreamer Winter Dream Tarp.
Have a good one.

Hello and Welcome New Myself!

Welcome Moonwillow. Selecting and getting the gear if half of the fun. You have seen some of the hammocks and what ever you get will be so much better than the ground.

Hi moonwillow - welcome to the forum

Welcome Moonwillow. Like Jerry said its hard to make a bad choice. Maybe someone lives near you and you can try out their rig , HH or BB. I bought a BB blind and am totally happy

Do you make gear, cause a diy speer, may be an option. How are your resources, cause if you are ok with buying off shore, the Claytor with diamond tarp is a good option for $150. Lots of choices....very few poor ones....Glad to have you on board

Welcome to Hammock Forums!
If you really need to save money, you could make your own hammock, too.
I purchased 8 yards of 1.1 ripstop nylon at the walmart in Fort Dodge, IA about a month ago (their walmart still has a fabric section) for ~$13.50 and just finished up a double layer Speer-type hammock. Extremely comfortable!
