paranoid question
So a few days ago just ordered a bb dl 1.7 with the adjustable webbing suspension. In 3 weeks leave for the porcupine mtns. U.P, MI, and i'm pretty sure we're gonna run into tree diameter from 4inches on up to monster size white pine, hemlock, maple and oak. So with what i have ordered should i worry about packing extra tree straps for the big trees or not
-
If you ordered the strap suspension, I would not worry about it. The straps on the WBBB are plenty long.
-
You can hang on trees smaller than 4 inches... That may sound silly but i usually end up hanging from trees leg size and up... But i carry a lot of extra tree strap to do this...
-
You may not what to get into it, but when I get mine, I'm swapping out the stock straps for whoopies and tree huggers anyway. If you're the DIY type, you could order webbing any size you wanted and sew a loop on the end and connect it via marlin spike hitch and toggle.

The stock webbing straps are each 15 feet long maybe more...very long...cant imagine you will have any problems.

I carry suspension extensions in case I need some extra length to get around a big tree. They are simply 5 feet lengths of amsteel with loops on each end. You'll probably not need them but they are good to have and don't take up a lot of extra space and weight.

Diameter x pi is the circumference. a 36 inch diameter tree eats up 9 and a half feet leaving you 6 feet to your hammock. The real question then becomes how far are the big trees that you'll be hanging from. If they are 20 feet apart you'll have 12 feet of suspension and the length of your hammock to make it. You just have to know your surroundings and pack extra suspension if you'll need it.

finally got to hang the bb today. But as i kinda feared i stopped the 1st hang. As the webbing suspension that came with it. Ran it down till there was aboout 2inches of strap left between both trees " at head high" so did order some amsteel last night gonna make some straps to add length for these big michigan trees. should add that ridgeline was about as tight as a guitar string so didn't wanna damage it.will try and find some smaller trees tommorrow so i can actually lay in the new bb
-
How far apart are these trees? I hang between two huge white pines that I can barely get my arms around and have plenty of strap left on each end. Find trees closer together.

I used the adjustable web suspension from the wbbb as tree straps with 15' whoopees
