yeah i meant that it was the first underquilt that people would have considered the best underquilt. Since there are no points given for being actually first since i am sure someone had an underquilt hundreds of years ago too. I wonder if speers will continue to sell fabric and notions? he always had a good selection of exactly what you needed.
Athough I have a couple Speer tarps, it is his DIY supplies and his lightning fast shipping that I have enjoyed the most. Especially his 900 fill down. His fabrics were always reasonably priced also. I hope that doesn't change. Also there have been several time when I could just pm Ed about random geology questions and he would get back to me. He is the only geologist I know. It's always fun to see him at trail days also.
Darby and John from TTTG are a couple of great guys, and I feel confident that the merger will be a good thing. Having spent many hours in conversation with Darby, I know that they uphold the highest standards and dedication to the hammocking community. Rest assured that this is a good thing for everyone.
Thanks for all the best wishes from the folks at HF. While all of the details of the transition haven't been fully worked out yet, we really are excited about teaming up with TTTG. And it should be a big plus for all our customers as well since two small operations combined into one larger operation benefits from both manufacturing and marketing efficiency. John & Dale of Tree to Tree Trail Gear are uniquelly positioned for some great things in the coming years and we're delighted to be on board.
Most of the Speer product line, including supplies for make-you-own gear will still be available on the Speer website, but soon your online orders will automatically be forwarded to TTTG to be processed & shipped. NoTangle Guideline is still available. In the coming weeks, all Speer products will also be available on the TTTG website.
As for the Speer SnugFit, WinterTarp & SPE, they are currently discontinued but some inventory of SnugFits & SPEs still exist.
Now that I have some extra time, stay tuned for some new Speer products! I've got hammock camping in my blood now, so I'm not going away. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or TTTG.
All the best to our friends at HF
