Oh no he was inside acting like a pirate and watching TV with his mom. I was testing to see if it could be done and my answer was a big negative.
I could have done it if my tripod poles where taller. This would have given me a better angle to hang higher and put less stress on the ridge pole.
Just returned from two weeks in north Georgia and Virginia and the stand worked perfectly. Easy setup and takedown. The stand recieved some varied weight testing as it was in the living room on Thanksgiving Day and over a dozen people tried it out. The only problems encountered involved the length. The folded length of 6' wouldn't fit inside the truck and the set up length of 14' won't fit most bedrooms. Realized on this trip that unlike the forum members most people think it ,or you are, strange to sleep in a hammock. May have gotten some to think about it, maybe 2 to try it, but brother-in-law still refuses to try it. Gave up trying to convince him that it would be good for his back.
Wait until it starts lifting his pavers. Then he'll be mad!
In an effort to get the collective mind working...you can fashion a simple truss with your ridgepole and amsteel blue to oppose the bending force....
black = ridgepole
blue = amsteel, zing-it, etc. - must be strung tight
red = spacer...just a wild guess but start with 6"

@gmcttr - thanks for the suggestion, bit stupid of me to try it without something like that. I already used a similar solution on my original stand with a much shorter ridgepole for the eno (see pages: 24, post #236 for the idea, and page 27, post #268 for the execution) => picture: http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...hp?i=15005&c=4
I didn't get to making a longer line to do the same with the very lengthy ridge solution yet. In hindsight, it was really stupid to not try that as my first attempted solution. :) Yours is attached differently to my initial version though, I think I might try both.
I'll get back to you on that, thanks for reminding me and giving me a new idea all in one! :D
