I tried that and I think it is a little suspect. I sewed a loop in the webbing. I wrapped the webbing around the tree and through the loop. After laying in it for one night and for a little testing another time, I think you want to use a biner. The webbing started to stick a little to each other where they met. I think that could cause a weak point in the webbing.
I am going to order the micro biners everyone is talking about and give them a try. I think the convince factor may win out over 2oz in the pack. I am thinking I could use the biners to attach something to the gearskin while hiking anyways.
