WBBB 1.1 or Hyperlite HH

I read up on both before I made my first 'real' sub-forum post and I'm not sure what to go with. I am 5'10 152lbs and I will be using for ultralight backpacking and maybe some bike touring. Weight and compression are critical. I am familiar with the HH brand but before I go out and spend the money on a hyperlite I figured you nice folks could sway me on a BB 1.1 instead. I have never put my hands on one much less slept in them. So lightest stock or outfitted with whoopie hooks and whatever else. Excited for your responses. :cool:

If weight/size are critical - and at your weight/height - I'd recommend either a single layer 1.1 Blackbird or a Darien UL (from DreamHammocks). Both fit the bill and are very comfy. The Darien UL is the lightest integrated-net hammock on the market today.

Thanks Breyman! I have never even seen those before. Very neat that they come with whoopie hooks already. What tarp would be ideal? just a cubenfiber from HH? Crossing into mixing and matching is def. new to me.

If you can afford it a cuben tarp is great. I have the Hammockgear 12ft Winter Palace and it weights in at a massive 8oz

Sure thing. It is a very complete, nice setup. I love mine so far. Quilt hooks, whoopie hooks and dutch clips!

+1 on a hammockGear tarp with doors. Most tarps will work with the Darien UL but one with doors helps a lot with wind/wind-blown rain. And, cuben is a nice match as it's so light.

I'm pretty sold on a WBBBB 1.1 sl just bc of wait time on the Darien ul. going to update my WTB ad. I wish stuff was found as quick as it sells on here

I used to use a hennessy ultra light... used to.. the 1.1 single BB is what is switched to. Go with the line strap suspension if you are super critical on the weight and compressability. The adjustable webbing suspension is way better, but signifigantly heavier and bulkier.

There are many different hammocks out there, do some research, ask some questions and don't buy until you are informed!

Breyman-- the quick suggestion you made weeks ago changed everything. I am a proud owner of a Darien UL in ACU digi-cam. I was hooked on brandon's quality so I went with a camo edge tarp and Yeti UQ as well. Thanks for the suggestion!!!
