Need help on underquilt?????

I was thinking yesterday? (dosn't happen alot, haha!) anyway I know you guys answer these alot but I have a mummy bag And I'm getting sick of always falling out of my hammok so I thought I could just cut a hole in the bottom of my mummy and stitch it back up! but before I butcher my sleeping bag i'd like to make sure I'm doing it right! I beleive I've seen some people put a draw-string at the end and also wanted to know if that is neccisary? i'd love help on this thank you for any idea's or comments from y'all!

I've seen it done, but it removes the diagonal lay of your hammock...

here's one thread.

this is probably because I need a spreader bar, but in my hammock the middle has a ridge and there is two dips on either side! would a spreader bar fix that? the reason I mentioned that is because diagnol laying is the most comforatable! but thats why I wanted to make peapod/ UQ!

it's not the sides i'm worryed about it's the huge ridge in the middle of my hammok!!!
And if I had those they would snap trying to hold the sides up!
