A good time was had by all! It was great to see old friends, and get out in the woods again. Here's a few pics...better than none! (Note MightyMouse proudly displaying her first tarp pitch...I don't have to pitch it for her anymore!!!)

Great report, 'Rider! Good pix, too, Duffy! That shelter is quite the architectural marvel! Sounds like a great one-nighter! Thanks for sharing. :D
Thanks for the pictures Duffy! Now I know what the "Hilton" looks like
Love the cypress too!
Gorgeous photos, there, Duffy! You went out by way of the huge cypress tree, I guess? Or was that on the way in?
(Note for everyone who hasn't been: Rice Creek has the 7th [I guess 6th now, since The Senator burned down] largest cypress tree in FL.)
Thanks, Pipsissewa! It was a great time, and just what I needed to get away from the daily grind.
That shelter's real nice inside, MAD777. Photos don't really do it justice. And the FT runs right through the conservation area, just before it begins its westbound jog to go up to Gold Head Branch State Park. It's a gorgeous area, but I'd stick to your usual hiking patterns: before it gets cold, the skeeters are something fierce out there!
Excellent write-up. No pix but your written descriptions made plenty in my head--really enjoyed it.
Ayup. The problem with draining the swamps to make condos is that the swamps aren't there anymore...
Thanks!
There are pics, though; just scroll down to post #11. MightyMouse and Duffy took pictures since they're less easily distracted than I am. And what great photos they are!
You must have majored in Literature. :D Your write ups are always like reading a book. Sounds like you had a nice trip there. Loved the cypress!
