Does/has anyone used flat nylon webbing for tarp tie-outs? What's the advantages of one over the other? Also, has anyone ever used tubular webbing? I've got some black fnw and was wondering if this is ok to use for the tie-outs.

I haven't used nylon, but it will stretch, unlike polyester grosgrain... Given the tieouts are short, it probably doesn't make any difference.
Tubular webbing is overkill, and heavier than grosgrain... Other than that, it should work fine.
Given that 7/8" grosgrain is $3 a spool (18') I don't see why not to use it... (unless, of course, you need to drive 50 miles to get it...)
I'm sure those with more experience will chime in...
I prefer grosgrain. It's tough and lightweight and not as bulky as webbing. Really though, either will get the job done.
Your tarp tie outs are not under a huge amount of stress. Grosgrain is strong enough for the job. Besides it is lighter, cheaper and easier to sew than webbing.
I used 3/4 flat webbing on a tipi I made many years ago,,, overkill. I use 3/4 grosgrain on everything now...
