im lookin at a kelty car tarp. does anyone have any experience with these in winter camping? can they be closed up on the ends to make a tent style tarp hanging over your hammock? sorry for the noob question. thanks.. i use an eno doublenest hammock if that helps you answer
is that the one your talking about... i don't think it can be closed because of where the tie outs are placed... it looks big enough although a bit odd with the asymmetrical hex design... although it would give you an AWESOME porch mode if you used the long side... i'm hoping this is just to be used car camping as there are better(cheaper) options big enough to cover your hammock... but no it won't have doors unless you get some of the dutch tarp pull options and use them to give you another tie out and even then i don't think there is enough fabric to get the doors closed...

the tadpole if you are looking for just a small fair weather turned not so nice weather tarp... and the superfly for doors and the whole shebang in one shot...
actually, that would work for what i want too. probably cheaper too. thanks

Does anyone know how well the Kelty holds up to a moderate rain? Does it need to have water repellent added with seam sealer right out of the box? I'm just another noob with a noob question. Thanks in advance.

my kelty held up to a monster thunderstorm right out of the box but i read a lot of reviews about people getting wet with them too.
