welcome to the madness
WELCOME!!
When I was was in college, and on a sailboat - I had to sleep on the deck. :( I had never even heard of hammock camping back then but I remember thinking that a hammock would fit nicely between the mast and the forestay.
Welcome from the center of the state, seems Alabama is becoming a very "Hammock" oriented group of people.
Hey there and Welcome Jim!
I have fond memories of Smith's Station ( might have been Salem, but I'm more sure it was Smiths). Reason: After the Air Force, when I was in College in Columbus, GA way back in the early 70s, I had a hot girlfriend who lived at Smiths. I would often have to to drive all the way there from Columbus, pick her up for a date back in Columbus, then get her back home by about midnight. Oh, what I wouldn't go through for a young lady back in the day of youthful strength! ;) It was a lot of driving but well worth it! I remember I would be driving north on 280 towards Opelika, and somewhere near Smith's Station I would turn left I think then soon crossing over some rail road tracks, and her house was very close to there.
Other times I would turn right about the same place, and drive on a dirt road ~ NE a few miles to a cabin we had on the back water.
Seeing where you are located brought back some memories! I also remember killing several big rattle snakes one afternoon at that cabin. Good reason for you to hang from a hammock!
Another What's Up? from Canada! Welcome.
A warm welcome to ya. Hope we meet up at an area hang some time.
Not to disagree, but those of us in NW Florida sometimes refer to our area as the real LA (Lower Alabama). ;)
Good to have you onboard. Good folks here, especially those I have met from Alabama!
