Well, I deal with some of the above, our great pyr barks all night to keep away the nasties from the goats and chickens. Some interesting things you hear outside are the trains in the distance, and the rumble strips that the trucks hit as they slow down for the stop light. But my main noise makers are a flock of gray speckled birds called guineas, which make a huge racket all hours of the day and night. Once the freezer gets fixed, we will be having smoked guinea for supper.
We have the barking dog, several deer and about a 100 acres of woods behind the house ( not mine) - but really quiet overall. There is the occasional car on the one lane road out front, but not a lot of traffic.
My backyard sounds of running motors from my neighbors late night lawn mower repair business. :scared:
Yep, I'm the noisy neighbor. :D
The Boys are only really loud twice a day; first at sunrise, when they feel their breakfast should be served. Then, they start in around 4:00 in the afternoon when their dinner is to be served. Jackasses!
But, the loudest component of our neighborhood is not my fault...totally. We have lots and lots of coyotes going by our property. There is a canal along a bike path right behind us and the coyotes use it as a highway. Normally, not an issue since they are just 'singing' as they go by. However, on occasion, one stops by our yard to look around. Those instances never go unchallenged by me, so off I go to chase them out. Every now and again, one of them gets to feeling froggy and decides he doesn't want to be chased. During those visits, there is often a loud bang sound echoing through the neighborhood for a moment. That part is sort of my fault.
The best part though, is that we are surrounded by commercial properties; condos, apartments, garden homes, etc. I betcha not a single one of those people that moved into those micro-communities ever thought they'd fall asleep to the sound of donkey brays, coyote songs, and gunfire! Suckers!
Owls That's all, just owls.
I've only slept in the backyard once since that rooster moved in next door. (maybe two roosters). Otherwise I have car noises from the busy road down the hill from me, air conditioners, barfing dogs (ok, really just barking dogs, but that misprint sounded better) from across that road.
I still can't believe how much semi truck traffic goes by at 3:00-4:00am.
thankfully we have to drive for 3/4 of a mile to get to a paved road!

It is pretty quiet in my yard, except for my dog that likes to bark at night lurkers on the other side of the fence in the woods. There is a train track about 3/4 mile away, but I am used to hearing that. I sleep soundly, and enjoy hanging out in the yard.
I live in a college town! My neighbors party hard & have a very annoying habit of howling at the moon all hours of the night! Between that & their girlfriends blood curdling screams ( I can never tell if its from pleasure or pain) I get little to no sleep .
I save my backyard hanging for holidays when all the students are gone & this becomes ghost town! I'm campaigning for more holidays:lol:
