oh, and I took the suggestion of using ZingIt for the whipping, Worked so well, I thought, " it can't be this easy."

I just finished whipping 6 of them in various colors for Christmas presents. One for my wife,3 sons and 2 of theirs girlfriends. Maybe then I can have mine back. Now to sew six stuff sacks and 12 tree straps and my holiday shopping is done.
Glad you asked. I just got the rings delivered. But I have a problem. I have amsteel loops for the whipping. I have two rings larks headed to the amsteel. I am using 1" polyester webbing for the tree straps. And I am taking the straps down to the rings.
My problem is the webbing is slipping under force. The rings are 1.5" steel welded. Attached is s photo on how the set up is.

Any suggestions as to why this isn't working? Am I doing something wrong?
Maybe scuff them up a little, the aluminum ones I have seen have a slight texture to it, chrome may be too smooth for it...
But I have not played with rings so this is just a thought...
The steel rings have a much smaller diameter and less surface area than aluminum climbing rings, so like Brute wrote, they're probably too slippery. Try a slippery half hitch in the webbing after the rings.
Also, the strength of the welded steel rings might be an issue. Do they have a rating?
The rings said 200#. I figured the two together should be good.
I spent a couple minutes with the dremel and they held fine. So I think I'm good to go. Just 22 more rings to scuff up.
I'd guess the same, thinner rings, equals less surface area for the webbing to grab. Mixed with a polished surface...
Try giving it a quick slippery hitch to lock it in.
