You've got it. Unless you wanna replace the stock loops in the hammock channels also, then you'll wanna get a couple amsteel continuous loops.
I like clipping things together with carabiners but they add weight and tend not to blend in with natural surroundings.

As far as where to buy....there are lots of places that provide what you are looking for. If it were me, I'd just get 100' of amsteel from Redden Marine and make my own whoopies (and whatever else I decided I wanted made of amsteel) and just get a couple of straps from Wally World. However, some people are not comfortable doing this, so I'd suggest one of the vedors on this site. JRB is the first thing that comes to mind, but there are many.
I recently got some dutch clips for my treestraps (thanks Weaseal) and they sure make things easy. Sounds like you are on the right track.
I second what Caveman said. In fact making whoopies is so easy, a Caveman could do it.
I made my own whoopie slings, and I bought my straps from Harbor Freight. Very strong, no stretch, very light weight, and a whopping $5.99. Hard to beat that. I have bought my 7/64" amsteel from Redden, but you can also get it from your local West Marine (not every store carries the 7/64", some carry only 1/8"). It costs more than Redden (even with shipping), but if you want a quick start, buying your first supply from a local supplier may save you time.
I just ordered 2 pair 6' of loop end straps from Strapworks, 4 carabiners from the local REI, and 75 ft. of 7/64th amsteel from redden marine. Made 2 full suspensions for the pair of Byer hammocks we got with our REI dividend this year.
Came out right at $33 per hammock including all suspension components after shipping/tax ect.
who cares about comeflaging I like the convenience of caribiners...

cool. thx all. just ordered the jrb complete suspension kit with the dutchware. just need to make my own ridgeline and i'm sure i can cut and tie a simple line myself lol
I like the jrb suspension because you can separate the suspension from the hammock. great choice.
How do you do this? Do you just slide loop through the hammock channel and clip the ends together with a biner? Then clip to your suspension?
Would it be lighter to just work a caribiner through the hammock channel and clip to the suspension?
Thanks for the help!
