I am going to order some of that poly webbing...just to make sure I am using the right thing.
Hey...ya gota give a brother a break!!! I am so new to this stuff I was just thinking..."WEBBING...ohh Ohh OHH!!! I gota have some!!!"...so I bought it!! LOL...I was hoping for black...but red was all they had!!!
Been there, done that with the ENO SlapStraps. They call them that 'cause you slap yourself after you find something a lot better that doesn't stretch so bad. I switched to ring buckles and have never looked back. I do have a set of cinch buckles that were generously donated to me (Thanks again, Grizz) that I want to try out when I can. :D
My friend Tom gently hit the ground due to slippage on his ring buckle system. The first night in the Olympics, he could not stop it from slipping ( he had not had trouble at home and was surprised). I told him about the half hitch ( I think it was half hitch) addition I read about here. That worked and he was good that first night and the following nights. But during an afternoon nap, he somewhat slowly hit the ground. He had just made some kind of adjustment and apparently did something wrong with his "no slip knot", or something, I'm not sure exactly what. He had no more trouble after that incident.
FWIW, I have had zero slippage with my cinch buckle.
To me that's probably the best reason why I favor the cinch buckles. Someone else posted awhile back about having to rely on a knot at the rings and not just the rings themselves. The piece of mind of not having to tie a knot puts the cinch buckles in the lead IMO.
That being said, I've had no slippage when I used a knot at the rings.
half hitch works great for me.but i use a high quality webbing rock climbers use.may be he should try a double half hitch:cool: neo
