Hang curious
Hi I'm Steve from Illinois and am very curious about hammock camping. My wife and I do a lot of motorcycle trips. These include stopping for a night or spending weeks at one place doing day trip.
On a bike, o lot like hiking but not nearly so, we try to reduce weight and size.
Some of the questions that led me here are packability for 2 people including insulation/blankets. We do some trips at high elevations so temperature changes can be large.
Has there been problems with leaving things out when staying in one campground for extended time? With a tent you can leave things out of site at least.
I am also looking for information on hammocks for 2, is there such a thing? How is comfort? Would it be better plan on 2 hammocks.
Any help pointing me in the right direction would help and I will keep looking.
I am really looking forward to trying hammocks.

welcome to the madness
Be sure and watch Shug's video to get an idea of what you are getting into.
Lots of good gear choices to select from. I recommend that you find a group hang in your area and attend it (tenters are allowed) . You will see many different products and most of us hangers will be happy to show off our setups, answer (or try to) your questions and even let you get in our hammocks to get an idea what its like.

You could look at junglehammock.com for there to 2 person hammock called the vertex I thank or you could buy two hammocks and hang under the same tarp.

No difference in security. As for two in a hammock, I could never sleep like that.

By the way we are trying to put together the first Illinois hang thanksgiving weekend at forest glen park near danville il

Thanks all,
As for the Il. hang, I have to work that weekend but would really like to make it to one.

You've come to the right place. Hello and Welcome to the Forums from Canada!

welcome to hf steve! pitch the tarp tightly around the hammock and your gear will be protected from elements and out of sight. you could even leave clothes drying on the rl without anyone seeing them.

I think ENO makes a 2 person hammock. Or a member on here, Smokehouse, makes a tarp for 2 hammocks.
