Will be hitting the Appalachian Trail with my 7.9 year old and 2 hammocks for the next 3 nights. Leaving in about 10 hours. But first I have to get this 10k, a parade, and some watermelon out of the way...:p

Oh, to be that age when fractions of a year make a difference:)
Take lots of pictures!!! And savour your time together. They grow up too fast.
Wow what a hike! Saw deer, a herd of wild hogs, 2 bears, and weathered a rain storm under bikini tarps. Quite an adventure for a first major hammock hike for both of us. Full report here. Pics coming soon, and will add to the new trip reports section.
Sounds like a very productive trip: 1) dismissed 2 major trail anxieties-bears & bad weather 2) earned trail name for Count Snail 3) learned tarp lessons, and 4) documentented life experience that will last a lifetime---Congratulations! And I hope the Atlanta Roadrace 10K was equally as memorable- I remember it being a real hoot- running down the road chasing 40,000 people while being chased by 10,000 people. Good report. Thanks.
Great trip report - look forward to seeing the pics.
Better Han Slowlo than FrankWHINEstein! Is he ready to go again?
