Ridgeline question
I use AHE cinch buckles and webbing for the suspension and before I got a quality (nylon) tarp, I used to used a poly tarp, I had a small section of paracord wrapped around the webbing in a prusik knot on each end to which I would run a ridgeline from end to end. Then I would feed a loop through the grommet and insert a twig in each end. When the tarp was in place I would slide the prusik knots in opposite directions to tighten the ridgeline, which would tighten nicely even while in the hammock. Today I used the cinch buckles and new tarp in the same manner but when I got in the hammock the ridge sagged down. I could not make it any tighter. What am I doing wrong and what should I do?
Thanks

I would tie the tarp to the trees. I don't know why it didn't sag before thought.

Thought about that but then is there a standard length of ridgeline you carry? By going to the webbing I could carry the 2 stranded twist paracord at 25 feet that j made. Being on a budget is paracord sufficient to support the tarp if I do connect to trees?

If doing a CRL(continuos ridgeline), most use about a 30' length. I would lose the paracord. It stretches too much. Use Zing-it or Lash- it for your tarp. If you don't have that right now, you could use braided masons line. It can be found at most hardware stores.

Braided masons line, I have some stuff, pretty thin. Am I supposed to braid it or use it as is?
Thanks,

Let me set you up with a pair of tarp flyz and some zing it for free. Just pm me with your address.
And go to the trees, that way you can adjust how high or low the tarp is. For example when it rains I put the tarp line below the huggers and for only a chance of rain it will be higher for ventilation.

The mason line comes either already twisted or already braided. You want the braided type.

Wow Dutch way to set the example for a newbie. Your'e my hero!:)

If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much! :)

Dutch you are the man! Thank you for the tarp flyz I cannot wait to try them out. I assume that I take the fixed loop and attach to the tarp and then wrap loose end around the tree, which would leave no ridge line under the tarp, or do I put the 2 loops together and run it under the tarp to each tree.
Thank you again, you will have my business in the future
