Marine Silicone for Seam-Sealing?

Hey everyone,
I just went to pick up some silicone for seam sealing on my tarp, and I got this one because they didn't have the GE silicone I was looking for:

If the link doesn't work right, it's Dap Auto/Marine sealer, 100% silicone, but I have no idea if there are additives in it. The packaging says it works with fabrics, stays flexible, and it resists degrading in sunlight, which I figured were good things.

The last thing I want to do is put something on my tarp that will damage it...

So should I try this out, or return it and get the GE silicone elsewhere?

Hey Sprite. I have used flowable silicone on one of my old silnylon tarps. It works its way into the seam and thread holes pretty well. I have read others recommend it and others have used it with great success. IIRC Jsaults discovered it cures better with moisture.

That's really interesting. Does that type of silicone not need to be mixed with mineral spirits then?

No it doesn't. It's ready to use out of the tube. I used about half a tube for a seam that was 8 feet long.
Silnet is also recommended but the nearest store that sell it is a couple hours from me.

The flowable silicone from the auto store is good stuff. IMHO it's much easier to do seam sealing with it than Silnet. Just did a tarp last week.
