Do I get a beaded necklace if I do? Sorry it's been a tuff week, it's the best I could come up with. Anyone who's been to the Big Easy will understand.
I use a cheap and way big 4x9 tarp from Harbour Freight.

I use a 3' x 3' piece of 6ml plastic, until I can get my hands on some Tyvek. :)
Wow
Thanks for the input. I use mine to lay out all my gear once I get to camp so it doesn't get all dirty. It sounds like many sizes are used. Since all I need to do is lay out some gear, and stand bare-footed on, i reckon I can use one about half the size I am using now.
Thanks again!!
Beads for everyone!!
I use one of those emergency space blankets. The tough ones not the thin ones. It has grommet on the corners, can be staked out so it doesn't blow away. I also like to empty my pack once my tarp and hammock are up to kind reorganize things.
I've been using a footprint that I made out of silver/blue tarp for my Alps Engineering Extreme 3 tent (and never actually used due to my conversion to hammocking).
I've been thinking about trying out the tyvek option, but I'm not sure I get the point other than the tear resistence. I mean, it seems a shame to waste a waterproof/breatheable membrane on the ground where all I care about is waterproofness. Maybe if it were also an emergency bivy sack...
Anyway, it's pretty large, but I need a ground cloth big enough for the GF's and my gear plus a little room to stand plus a spot for the dog.
6 x 4 hunk of old tent floor.
if you made your groundcloth out of something else; (esp. something that might have been thrown away)
I vote that it still counts.
did you add any hems or grommets or tiedown loops?

ps, sorry for coming in so late..been sick. (did you know Irish Mist will open a clogged nose? I didn't- until today!
only briefly, though- must go re-apply..))
I carry a builders rubble sack which is only just big enough to stand on really
