I had the best sleep in a hammock I've ever had - didn't feel anything move. Tree was still pretty solid - I tried pushing it down once I'd moved all my stuff out but it didn't budge. I imagine with the extra force of a hammock it could move more and I won't be using those trees next month! ;)

I had the same thing happen to me one night. Woke up with my butt on the ground. Figured my straps slipped so I re-tightened them and got back in and slowly lowered to the ground. Luckily there was another tree next to the one that was leaning and I just hooked up to that and didn't even need to redo my tarp.
I hiked past the spot a week ago and both trees I had hung from that night are gone. They had bad flooding and they got swept away.
can you imagine going to bed thinking "ah, what a nice view of the sky, i can see straight up and all around" and then waking up (late) the next day going "where the hell did all this shade come from...."
