VIDEO: Bluefin Hikes & Hangs on the East Coast Trail
Hey gang,
I have a 14 minute video of my overnight hike and hang near Aquaforte on the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland, Canada. I hike and show some cooking and my Vargo stove and my hammock setup.
My total weight of everything including food and water was 26 pounds.
I was not too happy with the final weight as I had a 3 pound sleeping bag. I now have a custom Hammock Gear Burrow topquilt on the way to me. I kept a list of gear I took and can reduce my pack weight a little more. I took too much food and clothing. I will be lighter on my next outing.
I had a great trip, I hope you enjoy the video and maybe you can subscribe to my channel.

Just finished watching a while ago. Always look forward to seeing your adventures in the North pal. You never disappoint. I love that dry sense of humor ... even when you bury your foot in muck! HA!

Hey, Bluefin, thanks for taking us along again.
A few questions:
Were you happy with the modifications on your hammock?
Does the trail ever get down onto the water's edge, or is it all cliffs with the trail above?
Did you see anyone on the trail? Looks pretty quiet!

Beautiful Location for a hang
Loved the video. That was great location for a hike and hang. Thanks for sharing the video. Loved the luxury that you brought.:) I'm sure it went well with that scrumptious dinner.
By the way, I know what you mean about the sleeping bag. I got the email today that my burrow has just shipped. Can't wait to try it out, but the temperatures will have to drop here before I can. Lows only in the mid 20's C. High's are in the mid 30's C. Too hot for camping right now.
Thanks again!

That is sure pretty country you hike in. Glad you had your gators on when you stepped in the mud, otherwise you would have wet feet.
Thanks for taking us along.

Hey sturgeon,
I love the mods on my hammock. I had a mod 4 with triple zipper pulls on both sides. It is awesome !
That section of trail is mostly cliffs and you are above the water at most points. That is only a 15 km section of several hundred kms of East Coast Trail.
On day two of my hike I did meet a couple from Quebec. They did not have a very good map of the trail so I gave them mine. I had a GPS with me and I was going back the way I came in. It was very quiet and tranquil, just what I needed.

Glad you liked the video. I usually take one can of beer for a treat. Evenat 16 ounces (I take a large beer) it is still worth it.

Thanks for watching, and yes the gaiters were worth it. At that time there were lots of wet places on the trail.

Thanks for watching, glad you liked it. the orange silicone pot grabber came with my GSI Minimilist pot. It just fits over two fingers and it works great I use it for all my pots. I think you can get them as a separate product now for about $ 2.50. I may have seen it on MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op). that is where I got the pot.
