Experience and advice on Line-loks (tm) please

There was a group buy lead by HF moderator Headchange4u of http://www.clamcleat.com/cleats/cleats.asp?menuid=7 four+ years ago, the locks coming in two sizes and a few colors / glow conditions. HF store carried the remainder, but few are left.

In HF history, these were introduced before ultra-thin and slick line (ie Dyneema ) use became prevalent.

So:

• Will the CL-266 series for cord 1-3mm cover all cord many of us use, without slipping?
• Are you satisfied with the holding power and ease of use?
• Do they hold pretty well on 1.8mm Zing-it and similar dyneema cord?
• Do they damage your lines?
• Would you use them on a ridgeline, or just for tie-outs?
• Is the pricier glow-in-dark model useful, necessary, or desireable?
• If not glow-in-the-dark, would you buy more in black, white, or Nato green?

Would you buy a bunch, again, if they were inexpensively shipped?

Bump:

None of the many veterans, sages, or wise men here have a comment on their experience with Line-Loks?

What if equipping a 4 stake tent with them cost less than $5....DELIVERED?
................and weighed you down by 4 grams? (6-8 grams winter)

I use them on my tarp with Speer No Tangle on my tarps (tie outs) and have had no issues. They work great. I have attached to a small loop of stretch cord larksheaded to the tie out. Never pulled or lost grip. Find it does work with zing it but not as well. Better with smaller non hollow line or larger hollow core. I like them and use them on several tarps. I have nato green and black as was only colours. Thinking of trying for a ridgeline just to see!

I had them on my previous tarp configuration, they worked well for me. They tended to slip on 2.2 zing-it when pulled really tight, but a slippery half hitch fixes that. I changed to prussics on my tie outs when I changed to my winter set up.

Please say whether you used the 2-5mm size or the 1-3mm size, (260 vs 266). If I buy 100 or 200, I'd like them to be the right size. That's why I went on at length in the first post.

I've used the 1-3mm ones, with zing-it, and they will slip just a bit under heavy tension. I feel they are most appropriately used with cording that has an outer sleeve, instead of single braid dyneema.

The stock shown by the store is likely incorrect. We also re-stock them as needed.

Probably not.

1-3mm is what I used predominantly. I had the larger for some climbing line and 550 cord.
