Ok, this question is for Superfly owners only! I am trying to get the rig dialed in before it arrives so I can take to the field immediately.
CRL, Over or Under or I don't use a CL. If you have something to contribute to the research please post a comment.

The only time my Superfly "leaked" was when the CRL was underneath and the torrential rain ran along it and dripped inside. Otherwise the ridge line of the SF has not failed as issued by Warbonnet
Over the ridgeline. The ridgeline has a cat cut to it so it won't pitch correctly with a CRL underneath...
Ive not had any problems with it leaking with the crl underneath

Some people like a below the tarp CRL for a little added strength and support for the tarp but the Superfly has a gross grain on the seam which sort of acts as a CRL.

Yes I have been out in heavy rains it may be due to me having my tarp connected with a prusiks knot on both ends why it doesn’t leak and why I don’t have trouble with the cat cut.Quote:

I dont have a ridgeline or a tarp I will be getting one soon but usually it is a good idea to have it over so you don't have driping and the cat cut kind of makes it hard have it under.
I do not have a superfly. In fact I have not camped in my new hammock yet but I've use my Noah's Tarp a bunch of times while tent camping and I've found that running a CRL works really nicely with the caternary cut ridgeline if you just don't tension the heck out of the ridgeline. I bring the tarp up to tension more by using the guylines on the corners going to the stakes. Is that crazy talk?

In my opinion it is superior to prussicks and end only suspension in sheer ease to set up, speed and adjustability. My opinion.
I am waiting on my Superfly and considering the pole mod by 2QZQ which may require some modification to the ridgeline. I want to use the same method of suspension but I have never used it under a tarp without getting a distorted ridgeline.

I had one under the tarp until i went back and asked brandon about it.. So i followed his advise and went to end only suspension, its how he designed it and if you notice in his video how tight that thing is I figure he's gotta be in the know...know what i mean..
If you use a CRL, place it over the tarp as it has a cat cut RL. I used to use a CRL, but now I use two RLs with Dutch Stingerz. I found that is was just as fast, easy to adjust, and I get a much tighter pitched tarp. YMMV.
I've just switched from a CRL over the top, to single tie-outs at each corner with Dutch flyz. I've only pitched it once like this, but it went up easy and tighter than the CRL method. I'll stick with the two tie out method.
Do you hook the Flyz right to the metal ring at the end of the tarp? That is what I'm planning to try, just need to get my order into Dutch.Quote:

Personally, I am going with the two lines. I have already ordered two Dutch Flyz for the SF, and they should be here in a day or so. I didn't want the stingerz, as I think I have more adjustablity with the flyz. If I find trees far apart, I can slide the fly down the line, if needed. With the stingerz, I would have to add an extension line. Not that big of a deal, but that's just the way I roll.:lol:
Since the superfly uses a split ring at the end of the ridgeseam it's possible to thread the dutch fly right onto the end of the tarp and use a single strand of cord from tarp to tree.Quote:

Could someone explain the cat cut ridgeline part to me? I guess I don't understand what a cat cut ridgeline is, and how different hanging methods affect the hang. I understand cat cuts on the bottom edges, but not on the ridgeline. I have a MacCat Deluxe in Sil. Does it have a cat cut ridgeline? I have always used a CRL, with the tarp over top and haven't noticed a problem, but was thinking about trying some Dutchware and ditching the CRL.
Never mind. I searched a bit and figured it out. My tarp is straight across the top, and therefore wants to be hung pretty straight. Some brands have a curve in the top, which would suggest that it you would want to allow the ends of the tarp to go upward. I guess then you would either hang the ends really high, or suspend your tarp under a CRL. Right?Quote:
