HF's Hammock Hangers Essential Knot Guide

We should develop an essential knot guide for this obsession. We can contribute as a group by individually posting our favorites. If you like the idea post some entries.
If the notion gets legs I'll do an inventory of contributions and query the forum for "entry" and for standards. many videos by various members already have some useful stuff as do other YouTube posters. I figure if there's enough interest we can put together a HF version that is indexed with video examples.
Suggestions:
Use classic names
If a knot is a popular variation of a classic, give both names.
We should develop categories of rope as a standard.
What I'm looking for is a post like this:
"larks head
Figure 8
Square knot
Jam knot
Marlin spike
Surgeons knot
Overhand knot
Bow line
Slippery hitch
Prussic
Ridge line knot
Overhand knot
Overhand loop knot
Bloodline knot
Diamond knot"
Etc.
