Correct. This is the sort of thing that I do for a living.
I suggest a Good Malware Program to start, Malwarebytes or Spy Bot Search and Destroy.
Clear your cache and cookies. Disable your Addons, uninstall any tool bars.

Bill if you are using firefox Id suggest getting the adblock plus, noscript, and ghostery addon. It will pretty much lock down your browsing and gives you much better control over what cookies you allow on your machine. This combo literally kills the ads on youtube for me.
And def run spy bot a few times to quarantine the infection.

I've heard that it is a good idea to disable the plugins for things like Java, and Flash if you don't use them. If you don't use them you aren't likely to keep them updated, if you don't keep them updated those friendly people we refer to as hackers may have a nice backdoor into your computer. :scared: Not intending to start mass panic. If you keep having the problem maybe using a different web browser will help? (I don't really know about that one, just sounded good when I was typing)
OK, thanks every one, it has not happened again since I started this thread. I believe it had happened twice just before I started the thread 5 days ago. Weird! But I think I disabled Java shortly after the problem, could it be related to the problem? I use Norton 360 Premier firewall/AV and keep it updated, FWIW.
When you say "uninstall any tool bars" I guess you are saying that tool bars are a way for bad things to get inside your computer, right?
I have 4 tool bars showing. I don't remember their names but they are...
