Hammock curious
Hello everyone from Oshkosh Wisconsin. I'm pretty excited to try this hanging from trees thing. I was watching the flea market (classifieds) on a motorcycle related forum that I frequent when low and behold there appeared 2 Hennessy's at once. An ultra light backpacker (never used) and an expedition (used once) so I bought them both for 200 bucks :). After that I start googlin' all things hammock which led me to this guy named Shug and his video hammock camping in the frozen Minnesota "piney woods" and think to myself that's crazy, he's crazy. Then my second thought was I want to do that. So anyhoo, I'll start with baby steps and hang in the backyard in various degrees of cold (if you haven't heard Wisconsin gets cold) I'll experiment, ask questions, read answers, purchase the needed gear that I don't have already, ask more questions, learn and have fun. Glad that I found this great community and I hope to get some good mentoring from all of you seasoned hammockers, hangers, swingers or whatever you call yourselves. Looking forward to giving this a go, and contributing to the forum from a noobs perspective.
Thanks,
Joe

Welcome from the Gulf Coast....We used to vacation at the Pioneer Inn just north of you on the lakeshore. We also would fish the walleye run at Winneconne. So I am somewhat familiar with your area. Grew up in Cedar Grove. ;)
You will love hanging, trust me.

Welcome to the forum.
learning is half the fun. But when I try something new I generaly lay down to "try it out" and fall asleep. Which isn't such a bad thing, right? It just takes longer to learn.
