Nice to know that I'm not the only nut out there in a hammock playing tin whistle, fife, or native american flute. :)
All of those just seem to "fit" when I'm sitting out in the woods around the fire.
I wish I was talented enough to play… I am thinking of bringing a hikers guitar if I ever get to start the AT… I’ll have nuthin but time ta practice!
When I hang I never want to pick....just hang out.
Shug
I'm learning to play the Kalimba. I may take it this spring if I can get it tuned like I want and I get a little better on it. Mine is old, homemade and lite weight from a gourd of some kind.
Every now and then i'll break out the harmonicas, but I mostly just read in the hammock.
i'm with shug..... that and i would fear dragging my Martin out in the woods :scared:
and my Djembe is too big to drag along
i been looking into getting one of the small martins my guitarist has one and it's a sweet little guitar
I too have a Native American Flute (E#) that I love playing. (The deep bass seems to fit in the bush perfectly.) My only problem is that I have no skill. I can 'play along' to other music I hear, but I can't 'create' anything on my own from nothing.
I have gotten into the habit of trying to mimic other animal sounds I hear with it, and that is great fun. Especially when they 'talk back' to you.
One time, I had a moose get a little too interested in what I was saying to him, so I had to quickly change my tune.
