I'm mixing mine up,,ti stakes from Lawsons, a few gutter nails, and few groundhog stakes as you never know what kind of soil your going to get into, or how damp it might be. I really think you need a variety especially with the costs of a good tarp and the unpreditablity of the weather any more. And I carry enough for the wife's tarp too.
Another vote for the MSR Groundhogs..
Necropost! I revive you!
ok ok ok... But at least this is on topic.
This thread got me thinking about upgrading to Ti stakes if only to have a comparison vs. Al stakes. My reluctance has primarily been due to the lack of Y style stakes (which I most commonly use) being available in Ti. Well, after some extensive and exhausting battles with google I located the items I wanted.
Item# lmt120033 @ campingworld.com listed as "Titanium Crevice Stake" $3.95 each, but I took the plunge and ordered 6. Along with 6 of item# lmt120003 listed as "Titanium Hook Stake 165mm" total w/shipping & sales tax was $55.91. (wow! This stuff is expensive)
These items are drop shipped from the manufacturer and the site over estimates the delivery time. I called to ask about this and was told I should have them in 7-10 days.
I will do a review post, maybe I will get my video on, once they have arrive and I've had a chance to do some testing.
