Measure the length of the hammock and multiply that by .83, that seems to be the standard for most folks when making a ridgeline. Use something with some strength to it, because as much as you want to to be non-load bearing, it will take some load usually. When you set it up, try to make sure you have just a little sag in the ridge-line to ensure you don't end up breaking it.
I would recommend using Zing-it for a ridge.
Ok so if I have one that's a 120inch then I would need a 99.6 ridgeline?
How do I attach it. I use the double ring and webbing for my suspension?
In general yes. We all like ours a little different.
I would recommend larks head on one end (most likely the foot) and then have a clip for the head end so you can remove it if you want to. Dutchware makes a nice clip rated up to about 300 pounds if I recall right:

Ok thank you for your help! Top
Before you cut your ridgeline material to length for that specific measurement, leave it longer to start, then make it shorter than your "acurate length". Basically play with the length to see what makes your "fit" the best for you.
After you have a few sessions to see what's best for you, then cut it to best fit your hammock and your specific lay. Unless, you leave it adjustable to begin with.
My 2 cents worth...
Ok ty but I'm still not sure how to/ where to attach it
I would probably tie a loop at one end and slip it over the rings and put it in the short section of rope that is usually attaches hammock to rings... And then make a larks head on the other end and do the same... Or larks head on both ends... Which ever...
On my grand trunk I have my adjustable ridgeline slipped into the carabiner on each end... On my table cloth hammock I have it just slipped over the whoopie slings, the angle pulls it in right to where it needs to be...
1. With the foot end of the ridge cord, tie a loop into it that has an opening about 1" long.
2. On the "foot" end of the hammock, connect that loop with a larks head to the suspension cord that comes from the body of the hammock:

3. On the other end of your ridge-line cord make another knot and larks head that one to the mini biner so you can clip and unclip it from the support line on the "head" end of your hammock body. I think the Yukon has short lines to hooks that hook onto your tree suspension, in that case you could just have the loop go over that short line before you hook it to your tree suspension.
Like Sgt said, larkshead one end around the hammock suspension. Then you can use a biner or what I do is pull the whoopie through the ridgeline loop and let it hold it in place. I can take a pic tomorrow of what's setup in the yard right now.
ETA: Beat by seconds. :)
Ok I want to attach it to the rings. Thank you for clearing that up for me
Here's a couple of simple ways that may work for you...http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...41&postcount=2
Ok so I attach it to the rings and not the rope that ties the rings to the hammock
I'm sure Derek has an illustration somewhere on this.
Ok I got it now thanks for the pics they a lot
I would try splicing a locked Brummel at each end that one of the Dutch ridgeline biners to connect at one end and larks head the other. I would attach both to the rings at either end of your hammock if I'm visualizing your setup properly. You could order an adjustable ridgeline from Dutch and give that a spin. That way adjusting would be easy and you wouldn't have to worry about breaking it if you did put a load on it. http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/feat...ock-ridgeline/
I am very new to this here is what I did:
2 strand twist 550 paracord about 25ft with a loop whipped in
Small section of 550 tied in a loop and prusik knot on each side of the webbing suspension
Attach paracord to first prusik and run over to second and tie off
Be sure to leave some sag, then throw tarp over the top and stake it out
Then move both prusik knots away from each other until tarp is tight
I also run the ridge line up through a grommet hole on each side and put a stick through the created loop
Hope you understood that, it confused me a bit but it is easy
That sounds about right.
Ok thank you everyone for the help!!!!!!!
