I know the feeling! I'm poor until the end of the month so I'm crossing my fingers that he still has one left come Feb.
I'm not brave enough to spend Spinntex kind of money until my sewing skills have improved....a bunch! If my tarp is going to cost like that, I want it to look like it cost that much!
I had an enlighting experiecnce sewimg my dad's tarp. I just made a template w/ seem allowences out of some $1 yd wal-mart fabric so my chances of screwimg up were greatly reduced. Although I did screw up the ridgeline a little, but nothing I couldn't fix. After that I feel more confident in making a tarp from spinnker.
I should be receiving my new tarp tomorrow. I order the Kelty noah9 it weighs 1lb6oz according to the description. You check it out at this site http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/st...berId=12500226 and here is a picture of it in use http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...&imageuser=293.
That's kind of heavy for the size. Also, my Winter Tarp came with a stuff sack.
oh boy, a black one...it figures when i am poor again......
My Speer winter hammock (dark green!) is 18 ounces, including stuff sack and all guy lines. Love it.
So I'm totally torn between the Speer 8x10 cat tarp and the Mac Cat standard. Suggestions? I need to pull the trigger quickly. $15 dollars is not a detterent between the two prices.
