Hmm. Ring buckles on my pack hipbelt.
Dude, don't volunteer yourself for the Darwin Awards. Get some real freaking rings. At 300 lbs dude you need something that's like a 1200 lbs working load at least. Your hammock and supports take way more stress than just our body weight. Think of how a fighter pilot has to sustain 9x his body weight during some maneuvers. And some aerobatic pilots can pull 11Gs or so in a single maneuver. If our bodies were only design to take one Earth gravity then we'd all be dead by now.
When ever you sit or swing or even move around in your hammock you're putting way more force than just 300lbs on those rings. Then there is all kind of physics that I don't understand going into it. Get some real freaking rings. Also if you notice on most Home Depot/Lowes rings and bolts it says NOT FOR BEARING HUMAN WEIGHT or something to that effect. There is a reason for that. Get some real freaking rings. Pay the shipping and get some real freaking rings.
I don't want to read about you on forums that you broke your tail bone, herniated 7 discs in your back, dislocated your shoulder, or fell 60 feet off a cliff cause you used cheap freakin rings.
i chipped a bone in my elbow when a strap broke. it took months for the soreness to go away.
I busted an ego...three times (two with 550 cord). Get real rings...they're only a couple bucks each.
at the risk of a tongue lashing from funbun, i got to see what others think about the descending rings i bought today for a buckle.

not to doubt my hammock college, but at blackbishiop's suggestion i bought these even though they are hollow & have no load rating.
i made a buckle from two & put it on the hammock & sat in it. also did a little light bouncing.
seems to be fine.
They are rated, if you look in the right place:

I think 16.6kN should be plenty.
Wow, they've even got a 22.2kN version. I bet you could hang the Space Shuttle off that, lol. Or is that like a comparison to another product?
Sorry for such a harsh tongue.
