Thanks SkyPainter, miyanc, Riddled, geoforge, biggcarl, and Rockdawg69. I love getting out there with the scouts. I especially enjoy spending the time with my favorite scout, my son.
Our Troop is headed up to Valley Forge at the end of November. Not sure if I will be with them though. My youngest doesn't cross over till March.
But we just finished making our freestanding stands and will be hammocking this weekend at the Webeloree and next month at the Pack campout. We both rocked the hammocks at Summer camp. Better than sleeping in the canvas tents with the mice.
And the pricing is very reasonable for scouts. I just can't convince my troop to do this trip. Gettysburg yes, Valley Forge no. I think it's a Civil War vs Revolutionary War kinda thing. As for your scouts that didn't bring their hammocks, after seeing you and the SM hanging, they'll remember them next time.
Sounds like a great time had by all.
fishbait: If your headed to Gettysburg you might want to look at Camp Conewago. It is a property owned by the local council in New Oxford PA.
Your right fishbait. They all said they had wished they brought their hammocks along.
Valley Forge was awesome Fishbait! The history there is amazing! Even I learned some things on this trip, I usually do on each trip. We are going to Gettysburg next year, in April or May, I forget. We are in a lottery to get a camp site, on the battlefield I think. Worst case, we are going to book into Pine Grove Furnace State Park. We went there a few years ago, and it was awesome!
